The batching and smelting of aluminum castings are the key links in the aluminum alloy casting process. This process requires strict selection of raw materials, precise control of the proportion of ingredients, and accurate mastery of smelting technology to ensure the quality of the castings.

In terms of ingredients, aluminium alloy is usually composed of elements such as aluminium, copper, magnesium, manganese, zinc, iron and silicon, among which the content of aluminium is generally above 90%. The content and proportion of each element have an important influence on the performance of die-cast aluminum. For instance, copper can enhance the hardness and strength of die-cast aluminum, but excessive copper can reduce the toughness and machinability of the castings. Therefore, the copper content is generally controlled between 2% and 4%. Magnesium can enhance the strength, toughness and corrosion resistance of die-cast aluminum. However, excessive magnesium can cause hot cracking in castings. Generally, a magnesium content between 0.3% and 0.5% is appropriate.

In terms of smelting, the first step is to prepare smelting equipment, such as inductors, gas furnaces or electric arc furnaces, etc. These devices can provide high-temperature conditions to heat the aluminum alloy to a liquid state. During the smelting process, it is necessary to ensure that the temperature inside the furnace remains within an appropriate range to prevent the alloy from overheating or overcooling. In addition, rapid analysis instruments should be used to analyze the alloy composition and make timely adjustments to ensure the purity of the melt, prevent pollution from harmful gases and control the chemical composition. The molten metal still needs to be refined and filtered to remove harmful gases such as hydrogen and non-metallic inclusions from the metal and improve its purity.

Through scientific batching and smelting processes, high-quality aluminum alloy castings can be produced to meet the demands of various industries and fields. In actual production, it is necessary to reasonably adjust the content and proportion of each element according to specific requirements and process conditions to ensure the performance and quality of aluminum castings.
